How do you keep cream in its tip-top shape and ensure that its creamy goodness lasts as long as possible? After all, you’ll surely want to prepare a dish served with love and only the best ingredients.

There are some things you need to remember in order to properly use and store those delightful dollops. In this article, you’ll find out some tips and reminders on how to properly store NESTLÉ Cream.

Unopened Cream

When buying NESTLÉ Cream make sure that the pack or can bought is free from any defect or dents in the packaging. When unopened, a pack of NESTLÉ Cream, whether in tetra pack or in can, is best kept ambient and stored in room temperature dry and in a clean environment. This allows the cream to keep its properties, such as being pourable, and therefore more flexible in terms of use. Unopened, shelf life is 9 months from date of manufacture for NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream, and 15 months for NESTLÉ Cream in can. Best to keep your eye out on the “best before date” though to ensure that your cream is still fresh for use.

To chill or not to chill unopened cream?

A pack of NESTLÉ Cream can be chilled before using if the recipe calls for a thicker consistency. This is usually the case for some desserts like trifles, panna cottas, ice cream cakes and no bake cheesecakes. It is also chilled whenever the cream needs to be whipped and piped. Note however, that cream should only be frozen to make ice cream.

Opened Cream

Upon opening a pack of NESTLÉ Cream, unused cream should be transferred to an airtight container and kept chilled in the refrigerator to help retain its current properties. It keeps it more protected and helps prevent it from spoiling. Also, exposing the cream to air exposes the cream to moisture and outside flavors that may affect the cream. Be mindful to keep cream away from food with strong aroma like garlic, onion or strong-scented fruits as it might affect your cream. As an added precaution, do not put opened cans of cream in the refrigerator to ensure that the metal does not rust and that the metal does not seep through the cream.

In general, NESTLÉ Cream should be consumed within five days of opening the packaging. When using it, best to taste the cream before using it to ensure its creamy quality and goodness is left intact.

Now that you know how to properly store cream, whip up amounts that you and your family can consume to make sure that every creamy dollop is used and will be able to fill you and your loved ones tummies and hearts!
